Christine Todd Whitman Speaks at Gettysburg

“I can think of no one better to talk about women, power, and politics,” said Susan Eisenhower, the Chairman Emeritus of the Eisenhower Institute, as she introduced Former Governor of New Jersey, Christine Todd Whitman, on Monday, Sept. 22.
The night opened with Interim President Janet Morgan Riggs stating the focus of this year’s speaker series, “women, power, and politics.”
Whitman’s speech, entitled “The View from Just Under the Glass Ceiling,” addressed issues that women in politics are still facing today. She discussed her mother, a woman who was considered by one newspaper likely to be the first woman governor of New Jersey. Whitman pointed out that the newspaper was only off by 40 years and a generation.
Students rate shuttle service

“First-Year students will no longer be permitted to park on campus.”
These words, bolded and underlined, established the letter students received at home this past summer. Upon reading them, many first-year students’ hearts were broken. The cars they felt like they had just gotten during their last couple years of high school were now being kept away from them again.
As compensation, the letter also informed students of their new shopping option: a shuttle service instituted to provide “the opportunity for students to travel from campus to Giant, Wal-Mart, and the local Outlet shopping/movie complex.”
